Breeding bassets or any other breed is not something to be taken lightly.  It is not an easy thing to do.  It takes a lot of time and effort.  It takes the love of the breed.  It takes knowing the breed well.  It is not very profitable, sometimes there is no profit, if you are giving the proper care to your dogs.  There are a lot of expenses that go into breeding.  Vet appts., medications, clean kennel areas, high quality dog foods, vaccines, proper room for the dogs to run, up keep on the grounds, and much more.   There is a lot of time and work that goes into breeding in order that your dogs stay happy and healthy.  What it all really comes down to is just plain loving the dogs so much, that you don't want to  live without em.   Your reward is the joy and the peace knowing that you've given the best to your dogs and that you are being a good stewart over these creatures. So please give serious thought if you are considering breeding.  Rewards come from things being done right.

Welcome to our place.   We are in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mts. on ten acres of land, surrounded by hundreds of acres of forest.  The climate is perfect here, especially for the bassets.  We are in the process of building a kennel building, with doggie doors which will lead into heated stalls inside.  We have pictures below as the building project begins to take form.

This is the fence line from the top and over into the woods.  Our kennels runs are 20 feet long, 5 feet wide, with gravel flooring, which is cloroxed  weekly.  The dog houses are heated in the winter with heat lamps and fresh hay.

We have started the kennel building!  With little grandbaby, Abbe,  helping grandpa mark out the nail lines of the floor.

We are getting there.  We still have a lot more to do inside the building, but the dogs are in now.

We have an acre of land fenced in so that all our bassets can run without getting lost in the forest.

The fenced in area gives our bassets plenty of room to run and follow their noses.

The fence line runs from the top of our yard down towards the road.
